I am very proud of the men and women on our Rolling Hills Fire Department. They work very hard and train very hard. They stay up to date with all the modern day training exercises that are needed to help them stay prepared for all of us in case of fire or devastation of any kind. I remember the Rolling Hills Fire Department and the men and women from when I was a little girl growing up in the Rolling Hills Neighborhood. My Dad, Uncle and Grandfather was on the Volunteer and Civil Defense Department with Rolling Hills. My mother and grandmother answered the phones and dispatched over the CB from their homes. They made the calls to the volunteer firefighters. I remember my mother and grandmother making my brothers and sisters and myself work with helping to raise funds for the Fire Department. Door to door was very different back then. And a little easier with 6 kids. (laugh). Things were a bit hectic then too. But at least the one good thing about Rolling Hills residents at that time was, that they were all extremely good natured and very eager to help do whatever was necessary to help raise money. More of the citizens in Rolling Hills were more involved with helping the Fire Department. This was back in the 60's, 70's and 80's as I was growing up. But now jump forward to the year 2013 and I do not see much participation at all from Rolling Hills residents. Somewhere along the line, the generation phase happened and things really changed. The Fire Department really needs donations to continue operating the way they do. They struggle day to day and are still having to pay out of some of their own pockets for some expenses to stay operating. They are ALL volunteers and have full-time jobs outside the Fire Department. They only get a small portion of monies from the property taxes on the homes in Rolling Hills, thus really having to budget tightly between two Fire Stations. My prayer is that everyone in Rolling Hills, whether home owner or renter, will start stepping up and coming forward to once again help our Firemen and women and their families. They are always there for any of us. They collect items and monies for families when they lose their homes. They've helped out numerous families here in Rolling Hills and Joplin, Shawnee, Moore, and many other areas that never gets mentioned. So Dear Lord, please talk to everyone's hearts and help them to financially and physically help our wonderful guys and gals on the Rolling Hills Fire Department and the Ladies Auxilary. Bless each individual in their home and with their jobs so that they will always have an abundance for their own personal needs and plenty to give to help others. Keep each and everyone safe from all harm and danger. Protect each child Lord and help each family to be in unity in peace and prosperous and healthy. Bless and Prosper our Fire Department and all those that are involved in keeping it operating every day Lord. Please take care of the firefighters families as they have to sacrifice their time away from each other when the need arises. Bless and Prosper each and everyone of them Lord and keep them healthy and safe from harm. In Jesus name, Amen.
